European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn met with President-elect Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

“Today I congratulated Volodymr Zelenskyi personally in Kyiv to his impressive victory to become President of Ukraine which gives him a very strong mandate to fight against corruption for deoligarchisation,” Hahn tweeted.

The European Commissioner also met with Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin. The visit was arranged without a public announcement, as it was absent from the European Commission’s calendar of events, European Pravda reported.

Hahn said that reforms in Ukraine must be continued.

“We see good transformation outcomes,” he said, adding that the continuation of work on the implementation of anti-corruption initiatives and the modernization of the justice system is very important.

“I also want to note the organization and holding of a presidential election campaign in Ukraine. This is in-itself valuable, and Ukraine can be proud of it,” he said.

On Wednesday, Hahn will meet Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland in Kyiv.
