Any Secret Deal with Putin on Ukraine Would Betray American Values – Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA)

The Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), representing over two million Americans of Ukrainian descent, issued a sharp statement ahead of the expected meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

“Any secret conspiracy regarding Ukraine’s future would be a betrayal of American values, a stain on our nation’s honor, and a gift to a war criminal responsible for genocide,” the UCCA statement reads.

UCCA’s New York head Andriy Dobryansky condemned any meeting where Ukraine’s fate might be “traded behind closed doors.”

“Nothing can be decided about Ukraine without Ukraine. Ukraine’s fate is not a bargaining chip for political gain or a favor granted by foreign states,” the statement emphasizes.

The UCCA stressed that Ukraine has been the shield of the free world for over three and a half years, urging the U.S. to remain a reliable ally of Kyiv.

“The United States must stand shoulder to shoulder with its ally and strategic partner—not only because it is morally right but because it is vital to its own national security,” Dobryansky said.

The statement also called on Trump to demand the immediate return of over 20,000 Ukrainian children kidnapped and deported to Russia, as well as to insist on reparations from Moscow for war damages.

“Anything less than full accountability rewards war crimes,” Dobryansky added.

“A deal in Alaska that undermines Ukraine’s sovereignty will not be a peace agreement—it will be capitulation to tyranny,” the organization warned.

“It will send a signal to every dictator that crimes against humanity can be washed away with a handshake and a photo op.”

America must stand on the right side of history, Dobryansky stressed, calling for peace to be achieved through strength—steadfast, unbreakable, and fearless.

He noted that the UCCA and other Ukrainian-American organizations have always strongly opposed the U.S. harboring enemies on its soil.
