President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stressed that the timely delivery of air defense systems remains one of Ukraine’s most important strategic priorities, calling the implementation of agreed delivery schedules a key task for Ukrainian diplomats and government officials, UATV English reports.
In his evening address, Zelenskyy said that recent meetings with Ukraine’s diplomatic team focused on a series of international engagements planned through August, with particular attention devoted to defense cooperation with partner countries.
“These days, we have held detailed discussions with our diplomatic team regarding most of the events scheduled through August. There will be many important activities. The most important thing is that Ukraine receives air defense systems exactly according to the commitments made by our partners,” Zelenskyy said.
According to the president, ensuring that promised systems and missiles arrive on schedule is essential for protecting Ukrainian cities and civilians from continued Russian missile and drone attacks.
“The air defense delivery schedule is a key schedule for Ukraine,” he emphasized.
Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian diplomats, together with the government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Defense, bear direct responsibility for advancing cooperation with international partners and securing concrete results.
“Our diplomatic team has a personal responsibility to move this cooperation forward across every track. The government, the Foreign Ministry, and the Defense Ministry must remain focused on this objective. We need results,” he said.
The president also highlighted ongoing efforts to expand domestic weapons production and deepen defense-industrial cooperation with international partners.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine continues to strengthen its capabilities for what he described as “long-range sanctions” against Russia, as well as medium-range strike capabilities targeting military assets used by occupying forces.
He noted that the effectiveness of Ukrainian precision strikes has become increasingly evident.
“Every day demonstrates that Ukrainian precision is working,” Zelenskyy said.
The president argued that military pressure, combined with economic and diplomatic measures, must continue to increase in order to create conditions for a just peace.
“This pressure, along with every other form of pressure on Russia, must continue and work for peace,” he stated.
Zelenskyy also suggested that growing economic and social difficulties inside Russia are increasingly affecting public perceptions of the war.
“The majority in Russia is already beginning to question Putin because there is no end in sight to this war. The hardships Russians are experiencing today should help them understand that this war is real and that it must end,” he said.
The remarks come as Ukraine continues to seek additional air defense systems and interceptor missiles from international partners amid sustained Russian aerial attacks against civilian infrastructure and urban centers.
Earlier, Zelenskyy announced that a defense agreement with Germany includes the procurement of 600 missiles for air defense systems, further strengthening Ukraine’s ability to protect its airspace.
Ukrainian officials have repeatedly argued that accelerating the delivery of air defense capabilities remains one of the most effective ways to save civilian lives and reduce the impact of Russia’s missile and drone campaign.
