Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that an oil refinery in Russia’s Moscow region had been struck. He announced this today, June 16, on Telegram, UATV English reports.
“This time, Ukraine’s long-range capabilities were felt in the Moscow region. An oil refinery located 500 kilometers away was hit. I thank the warriors of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Special Operations Forces, military intelligence, and the missile troops for their effective work,” the president said.
He stressed that Russia must be compelled to end the war.
“And Ukraine’s long-range weapons are one of the key components of such pressure. This is a just response to Russian strikes and a response to the prolongation of a war that must be brought to an end,” the head of state concluded.
As a reminder, since 2022, the range of Ukraine’s strike systems has increased by more than 2.5 times. Today, Ukraine’s Defense Forces are capable of successfully striking targets at distances of up to 2,000 kilometers. This strategy has steadily expanded the geography of attacks against military factories, oil refining facilities, and logistical hubs across Russia.
