His statement has been backed by US Ambassador to NATO Julianne Smith who says the invitation will not “be on the table” in July. However, she promises Ukraine will advance on its was to become a NATO member.

“There will be some new language in the Summit declaration on Ukraine’s membership aspirations. It won’t look exactly like the language that we had last year (in Vilnius),” Smith told reporters at a press conference ahead of a NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Prague, according to European Pravda.

She didn’t provide detailes on any formulations.
