China could somehow influence Russia to stop the war against Ukraine, pursuing its economic interests. This opinion was expressed today, August 7, on the air of FREEDOM TV channel by New York University professor Ihor Eisenberg.
“The long continuation of the war will harm China’s economic interests. If he decides that the economy is more important to him than ideology and his political confrontation with the West, then China may begin to influence Russia. But I think that this is not happening yet,” Eisenberg believes.
He expressed the opinion that China participated in the meeting in Saudi Arabia in order not to remain aloof, to be together with the countries of the Global South, so as not to allow Western countries to exert their influence.
“So far, I do not see any changes in China’s position in relation to Russian aggression and Russia itself,” the professor added.
