On October 20, in the church of St. Marcus in Chemnitz, Germany, during a festive concert, the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine/YsOU was awarded the prize of the Saxon Mozart Society Mozartpreis 2021.
Founder and art director of the Youth Symphony Orchestra Oksana Lyniv told about it, UA reports.
Due to pandemic restrictions, the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine was unable to perform in Chemnitz in its entirety. Nevertheless, the festive concert took place with the participation of orchestra musicians studying in Europe.
According to Lyniv, the award was presented by Dr. Gabriele Ramsauer, director of the Mozart Archives in Salzburg and director of the Mozart Museums of the International Mozart Salzburg Foundation. The award was presented by the Minister of Culture of Saxony Barbara Klepsch.
“We especially thank our invited soloist, Ukrainian pianist Antoni Baryshevsky, who performed a large solo program of works by Ukrainian composers. In addition, with the participation of young musicians Taras Zdanyuk (violin) / Anna Makarova (viola) / Anastasia Myakushko (cello) one of the most famous chamber works of Mozart – the Piano Quartet №1 KV 478 – sounded on spot″ – Oksana Lyniv wrote.
At the end of the concert, Ukrainian musicians joined the “100 Children of Mozart” Youth Orchestra, which became a symbol of a musical association without borders.
To remind, Ukrainian literature, cinema and music, as well as demonstration of history through museum collections, are precisely the soft diplomacy that allows the world to know truth about Ukraine. This was discussed during the forum “Ukraine 30. Image of Ukraine”, which took place in Kyiv on August 2-4.
