Ukraine’s Constitutional Court has recognized President Volodymyr Zelensky’s decree on the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada as constitutional.

The decision was made during a closed session of the court’s grand chamber, Ukrinform reported.

On May 20, during his inaugural speech, Zelensky announced the dissolution of the Ukrainian Parliament. The next day, he signed a decree on the dissolution of the parliament and called for snap elections on July 21.

On May 24, People’s Front MPs Andriy Teteruk and Ihor Alekseyev submitted a motion to the Constitutional Court regarding the unconstitutionality of the presidential decree on the early termination of the powers of the Verkhovna Rada.

They had asked the court to consider the motion within a month.
