German Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with military honors. Afterwards, the leaders will hold talks.
“On Tuesday, June 18, German Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet new President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky with military honors at 12:30 [Berlin time],” deputy German government spokesperson Ulrike Demmer said at a briefing in Berlin on June 14, 2019, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
During the working dinner, the parties will discuss bilateral relations, the progress of implementation of the Minsk agreements, the process of reforms in Ukraine, among other topics. Demmer does not know whether the issue of Nord Stream 2 will be raised but did say that the stance of Berlin is that Ukraine should remain a transit country.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will arrive in Berlin on June 18, 2019 after his visit to Paris.
