Ukraine’s Defense Forces carried out a large-scale strike on the Moscow Oil Refinery, located in Russia’s Moscow region. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a fire broke out at the facility following the attack, UATV English reports.
The General Staff reported that five separate fire zones were recorded, including a combined oil-processing unit, secondary refining facilities, and a fuel storage tank farm. The Moscow refinery is capable of processing more than 12 million tons of oil annually and is one of the enterprises involved in supplying fuel and lubricants to the Russian military.
In addition, the Gukovo Oil Depot in Russia’s Rostov region was struck. A fire was reported at the facility, which is used for the storage and transshipment of fuel products supporting Russia’s military and transportation infrastructure.
Ukraine’s Defense Forces also targeted a road bridge over the Kalka River near the settlement of Hranitne in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region, as well as a railway bridge across the North Crimean Canal near Rozdolne in occupied Crimea.
A Russian command post was reportedly hit near Soledar in the occupied part of Donetsk region, while fuel and lubricant depots were struck in Mariupol and Pyatypillia.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Moscow Oil Refinery—which supplies a significant share of fuel to Moscow and the surrounding region—had been successfully hit. According to the president, it was the second time within a week that Ukrainian drones had reached the facility.
