U.S. President Donald Trump plans to ask American defense companies to manufacture weapons under license in Europe and Ukraine.

The information was reported by Bloomberg, according to UATV English.

Ukraine requires additional air defense capabilities, particularly interceptor missiles used to shoot down Russian ballistic missiles, which are currently produced only by the United States.

However, given that U.S. stockpiles allocated for the conflict involving Iran have been depleted, and considering the time required to expand production capacity, Trump reportedly told allies that he would consider granting production licenses, according to Bloomberg’s sources.

“They would like to do that, and we will look into it,” Trump told reporters on Wednesday during the G7 summit in France.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that “the specific licenses under discussion will be examined in detail among the participating countries.”

“This would indeed involve American companies providing comprehensive licenses to European manufacturers,” Merz said.

In a joint statement issued after the G7 summit in Évian, leaders of the G7 countries expressed their readiness to provide Ukraine with licenses for the production of interceptor missiles directly on Ukrainian territory.

According to media reports, the discussions also include the possibility of manufacturing long-range missiles in Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that during his meeting with Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit, the two leaders discussed obtaining licenses for the production of anti-ballistic systems and missiles.
