Not only the government but Ukrainian society as a whole must unite to seize the momentum Ukraine is building on its path toward membership in the European Union.
This was stated by European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos following the second EU–Ukraine Accession Conference held in Luxembourg, UATV English reports.
Kos noted that while Ukraine is gaining momentum on the battlefield, it is also building its path toward becoming a prosperous and secure state within the European Union.
She stressed that Ukraine’s membership is “a central issue for Europe’s future because building a Europe that is truly responsible for its own security can only succeed with a strong, prosperous, and stable Ukraine.”
Kos recalled that during her most recent visit to Kyiv, she urged all political parties to unite around the common goal of European integration.
At the same time, she explained that reforms under the first negotiation cluster are also the gateway to much deeper integration into EU structures.
