Today, June 16, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to take part in the G7 Summit. Ahead of the event, the head of state arrived in Geneva, Switzerland, where he met with Swiss President Guy Parmelin. UATV English reports, citing the Office of the President of Ukraine.
The leaders discussed Russia’s ongoing aggression, strengthening air defense capabilities, and further sanctions pressure on Russia.
Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine’s positions on the battlefield are now significantly stronger, while Ukrainian mid-range and deep-strike operations are forcing Russia to feel the consequences of the war it unleashed.
Particular attention was given to cooperation in the energy sector. The Ukrainian president thanked Switzerland for its contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s energy resilience during the previous winter. He stressed that Ukraine is counting on Swiss contributions to the Energy Support Fund and on financing for gas purchases.
As a reminder, one of the key topics of the three-day G7 summit, which has begun in France, is Russia’s war against Ukraine. On the sidelines of the summit, a meeting is scheduled between President Zelenskyy and U.S. President Donald Trump.
