The United States has no right to pressure Ukraine into surrendering its territory to Russia, former White House special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg said during the analytical briefing “Russian Reality,” according to UATV English, citing the Washington Examiner.
At the same time, Kellogg noted that developments surrounding Iran and growing competition with China mean that America’s adversaries are closely watching Washington for any signs of weakness in its approach to ending the war in Ukraine.
“Ukraine should not be forced to give up any territory that Russia has been unable to seize by military means. Such an outcome would be unwise. It would show the world that borders can still be redrawn through violence, that persistence can substitute for legitimacy, and that the will of free people can be ignored if an aggressor is patient enough,” Kellogg stated.
His remarks come amid ongoing discussions in Washington over future support for Ukraine and possible diplomatic pathways toward ending the war.
Earlier, the United States Senate Committee on Armed Services approved $750 million in assistance for Ukraine within the framework of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The funding is intended for the purchase of weapons and military equipment for the Ukrainian Armed Forces from American manufacturers.
