EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas noted that the European Union is seeing signs of dissatisfaction within Russia regarding the continuation of the full-scale war against Ukraine.

As reported by UATV English, Kallas made the remarks upon arriving at an informal meeting of EU defense ministers in Cyprus.

Kallas was commenting on Sunday’s meeting in London between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, particularly on Europe’s potential role in negotiations with Russia.

She stressed that Russia is currently escalating its attacks instead of engaging in genuine peace talks.

“But at the same time, we also see certain developments inside Russia that indicate dissatisfaction with the continuation of this war. That is why we need to increase pressure on them and also strengthen our support for Ukraine,” the EU’s top diplomat said.

“We must do everything possible to ensure that Russia and Ukraine begin a dialogue, because ultimately they will have to reach an agreement. At the same time, we must also remember our core European interests, as there are issues that concern us as well when it comes to lifting sanctions and unfreezing assets,” Kallas added.

It is worth recalling that the leaders of Ukraine, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany discussed the conditions necessary for achieving a just and lasting peace during their meeting in London on June 7.

During the meeting, Zelenskyy briefed the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany on the situation on the battlefield and Russian losses.
