Last year, Ukraine trained more than 50,000 operators of unmanned aerial systems and nearly 100 pilot cadets. This was reported by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, according to UATV English.
Several groups of pilots have already completed training abroad and mastered modern foreign-made aircraft. The training programs incorporated real combat experience and complied with NATO standards.
The Ministry of Defence emphasized that one of the key achievements of 2025 was the creation of a nationwide network of certified training centres for drone operators in Ukraine. Eight leading training organizations have received certification, and a total of 34 institutions are now authorized to train specialists, including 19 focused specifically on unmanned systems.
It should be recalled that, as stated by Colonel Yurii Ihnat, Head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force, in 2026 the use of guided aerial bombs (KABs) of various types will become one of the key challenges for Ukraine’s air defence. In the past year alone, Russian occupation forces launched around 60,000 such munitions at Ukrainian positions and civilian cities.
