The Netherlands plans to invest up to €3 billion in counter-drone systems as Europe faces a growing number of drone-related security incidents, UATV English reports.

According to NL Times, the Dutch Ministry of Defence announced plans to spend between €1.25 and €3 billion to strengthen anti-drone capabilities, including additional anti-air systems, interceptor drones, radars, and tools designed to counter small UAVs. The measures will also reinforce naval protection against drone attacks.

“The Ministry of Defence of the Netherlands has announced a plan to spend between €1.25 and €3 billion on enhancing counter-drone systems, including additional anti-aircraft systems, interceptor drones, radars and countermeasures against small UAVs. Protection of ships against drone attacks will also be strengthened,” the report states.

Earlier this year, the Dutch government confirmed plans to acquire 22 mobile Skyranger 30 counter-drone systems, with the first deliveries expected in 2028.

This initiative follows multiple incidents involving unidentified drones in the Netherlands, including temporary closure of an airport due to UAV activity.
