U.S. President Donald Trump said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin are currently “in the process” of organizing a bilateral meeting.
Sky News reported this.
Trump stated that he considers a meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin necessary after he had met with both of them individually.
At first, Trump appeared to suggest a trilateral meeting as the next step, but after the Alaska summit he began saying that a bilateral meeting was instead needed: “They are in the process of arranging it, but we have to stop the killings, there are too many killings.”
He said he wants to see what happens at the meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin, and that it could eventually lead to a trilateral summit. “I saved hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of people, it’s a good feeling,” Trump added.
As reported earlier, on Monday U.S. President Donald Trump, after a call with Kremlin chief Putin, announced that he is beginning preparations for a meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia is not rejecting any formats of work regarding the settlement of the war in Ukraine.
