President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for stronger anti-ballistic air defense following a series of Russian attacks that killed civilians and targeted critical infrastructure across Ukraine.

According to Zelenskyy, Russia launched a missile strike on infrastructure in Dnipro, where rescue operations are ongoing. As of now, five people have been confirmed killed and 29 others injured, UATV English reports.

The president also reported a Russian drone strike on an ordinary shuttle bus in Zaporizhzhia, which killed three people and injured six others, including a child.

In Nikopol, Russian forces carried out a repeat strike targeting rescuers and a fire truck. Additional attacks hit energy infrastructure in Sumy, Odesa, and Chernihiv regions, while Kherson and the Kharkiv region also came under Russian fire.

“It is critically important to counter this Russian terror. People need greater protection from these horrific attacks. Above all, we need anti-ballistic capabilities,” Zelenskyy said.

He added that Europe should accelerate work on its own anti-ballistic defense systems and missile production.

“The faster these capabilities are expanded, the more lives we will be able to save,” the president said.
