President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has invited Ireland to join Europe’s proposed anti-ballistic defense program as part of the Drone Deal initiative, aimed at strengthening cooperation on advanced defense technologies, UATV English reports.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin in Dublin, Zelenskyy said the initiative is designed to enhance Europe’s collective security against ballistic missile threats.

“When we speak about security, we are talking about European security. First and foremost, this concerns the format we are currently proposing — a European anti-ballistic program to ensure Europe has sufficient protection against the most dangerous missiles,” Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian president noted that Kyiv and Dublin have begun discussions on cooperation in drones and emerging technologies, offering Ireland participation in the Drone Deal initiative.

“We are proposing the Drone Deal and the relevant technologies. This creates an opportunity to build direct and effective cooperation between our enterprises and companies. We very much hope that Ireland will positively consider these opportunities for future cooperation. This is about the security of our skies and the security of our seas,” he said.

The proposal follows Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to expand European cooperation on air and missile defense, including recent discussions with Denmark on the anti-ballistic program and the preparation of a Drone Deal agreement.
