Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone conversation with former U.S. President Donald Trump, he announced on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
“I spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump. A very good conversation. I thank him for his willingness to support Ukraine and continue working together to stop the killings and achieve a lasting and just peace,” Zelenskyy wrote.
According to the Ukrainian leader, Trump shared details of his recent meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. “It’s important that we have such good relations, and that NATO countries are making efforts to increase defense spending,” Zelenskyy noted.
The two leaders discussed the tools and decisions needed to better protect civilians from Russian strikes and to strengthen Ukraine’s defense positions.
Zelenskyy expressed readiness to work as productively as possible to bring peace closer.
“We agreed to stay in regular contact and continue coordinating our actions. Thank you, Mr. President! Thank you, America!” he added.
As previously reported, Trump recently stated during his meeting with Rutte that the NATO deal envisions billions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine.

Rutte informed about the meeting with Trump and about the details of cooperation between Europe and the United States to continue supporting Ukraine.
The United States, Germany and Norway are working together to provide additional Patriots to Ukraine. Other weapons will also be supplied.
