U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday warned that he will impose steep tariffs on Russia if a peace agreement on Ukraine is not reached within the next 50 days.

Speaking at the White House during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump expressed growing frustration with Moscow.

“One of the reasons Mark is here is because we are very dissatisfied — I am very dissatisfied — with Russia,” Trump said. “And if we don’t reach a deal within 50 days, we will impose very strict tariffs — approximately 100%,” he added.

Trump reiterated his desire to end Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine and voiced disappointment in Russian President Vladimir Putin. “I thought we’d reach a deal two months ago, but it looks like that won’t happen,” he said.

“Based on that, we’ll move forward with secondary tariffs. If there’s no deal in 50 days, it’s simple: tariffs go to 100%. That’s it. Hopefully, we won’t have to do that,” Trump stated.

In a rare move, Trump recently cast doubt on whether Putin truly wants peace, saying the Russian leader “talks a lot of nonsense.”

Trump also confirmed his intent to send various types of weapons to Ukraine, including Patriot missile systems, and emphasized that these would be “fully paid for.”

Trump also stated that the U.S. and NATO have reached an agreement on supplying weapons to Ukraine. Under the arrangement, European countries will bear the financial costs, while the United States will handle production.

“We’re sending our weapons to Ukraine. We’re not going to pay, but we’ll manufacture the best weapons,” Trump said, adding that the U.S. will ask Germany to expedite the delivery of Patriot missile systems.

He noted that NATO will coordinate the effort and decide where the weapons will be sent.

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that 17 Patriot air defense systems are being prepared for shipment to Ukraine.

“It’s Patriots, it’s everything that’s needed. They’ll be arriving in Ukraine very soon,” Trump said, adding that some of the systems will be delivered “within a few days.”

Putin is a tough guy. He fooled a lot of people. Clinton, Bush, Obama, Biden, but not me, – the US President said.
