Alexander Hoffmann, head of the Bavarian Christian Social Union (CSU) regional group in the Bundestag, which belongs to the ruling CDU/CSU faction, believes Ukraine should conclude an agreement with Germany on drone technology.
This is according to UATV English, reported by DW.
Germany will “under any circumstances” continue providing aid to Ukraine, the politician stressed. He also noted that Kyiv, thanks to this, has “developed truly outstanding capabilities — in the field of drones, counter-drone measures, and cruise missiles.”
Germany, according to him, must be ready to rapidly scale up drone production if needed, and for this it would be desirable to make use of the “know-how” that Ukraine already has today. Ukraine, according to Hoffmann, “of course, conceals this technology to some extent, since it’s advantageous from a military-strategic standpoint.” According to him, this concerns “dividends for support.”
“We’re saying: Germany must take part in these defense innovations to strengthen its own defense capability and deterrence capacity. That’s why we’re calling for an intergovernmental agreement to be concluded with Kyiv, in which the Ukrainian side commits to sharing its technological capabilities with us,” the politician said.
At the same time, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius believes Germany is a leader in Europe in the field of drone technology.
In April, Pistorius said Germany benefits from its military support for Ukraine.
He also stated that Ukrainian defense technologies are already in demand worldwide and are becoming a source of innovative solutions.
