President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that Ukrainian forces struck a Russian oil industry facility in the city of Armavir, located in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai approximately 500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

In a statement published on social media, Zelenskyy described the attack as part of Ukraine’s ongoing long-range campaign targeting assets that support Russia’s war effort, UATV English reports.

“These are our new long-range sanctions, reaching 500 kilometers from our state border. We are fairly bringing the war back to where it came from,” Zelenskyy said.

The president stressed that Russia could have ended its aggression long ago but instead chose to prolong the war.

“Russia could have ended its aggression long ago, but it chose escalation and continuation. Therefore, another facility of Russia’s oil industry has been successfully reached — this time in Armavir, Krasnodar Krai,” he added.

Zelenskyy thanked Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) for carrying out the operation and praised those involved for the successful strike.

He noted that the attack forms part of a broader strategy aimed at increasing pressure on Russia through what he described as both legal sanctions and practical long-range actions against assets that help sustain Moscow’s military campaign.

“Step by step, we are implementing our plan of long-range sanctions in response to everything Russia is doing against our country and our people. All types of our sanctions — legal and practical long-range measures — are working to bring peace closer,” Zelenskyy said.

Earlier, Russian authorities and local media reported fires at an oil storage facility in Armavir and at a port facility in Taganrog following overnight drone attacks.

The strike comes amid Ukraine’s intensified campaign against Russia’s energy and logistics infrastructure, which Kyiv views as a key source of funding and support for Moscow’s war against Ukraine.
