Ukraine’s Defense Forces are preparing to scale up the use of experimental systems designed to counter Russian attack drones and FPV drones, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Oleksandr Syrskyi announced, UATV English reports.
In a statement published on Facebook, Syrskyi said the rapid evolution of modern warfare and the growing role of unmanned systems require continuous technological adaptation to protect Ukrainian troops on the battlefield.
“The nature of warfare is changing constantly. The widespread use of attack UAVs and FPV drones by Russian forces compels us to search for effective technological solutions capable of increasing the survivability of our units,” Syrskyi said.
As part of these efforts, the commander-in-chief attended a demonstration of several experimental anti-drone systems developed by Ukrainian manufacturers.
The event was organized by the Central Directorate for Innovation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which serves as a platform for cooperation between military specialists, researchers, technology developers, and defense manufacturers.
During the demonstration, Ukrainian companies presented a number of promising technologies and tested them under conditions designed to closely replicate the realities of combat.
According to Syrskyi, the systems demonstrated significant potential and could play an important role in reducing the effectiveness of Russian drone attacks in the future.
“The results we observed confirm the high potential of these developments and their ability to significantly decrease the effectiveness of enemy aerial attack capabilities,” he stated.
The commander-in-chief declined to disclose specific technical details, operational characteristics, or potential deployment scenarios for the new systems, citing security considerations.
“For security reasons, I will not reveal the technical specifications, operating principles, or possible applications of these systems. Our objective is for the Russian occupiers to discover their capabilities directly on the battlefield,” Syrskyi emphasized.
The results of the tests will now undergo detailed analysis by military specialists and defense planners. Based on those assessments, the Armed Forces will decide whether to increase production and begin broader deployment across Ukrainian military units.
According to Syrskyi, maintaining a technological edge remains one of the key priorities for Ukraine as it continues to adapt to evolving battlefield conditions.
“We are working to ensure that the technological advantage remains on our side,” he said.
The announcement reflects Ukraine’s broader strategy of accelerating innovation in response to the growing threat posed by Russian drones, which have become a central element of combat operations along the front line.
The Ukrainian military has increasingly relied on cooperation with domestic defense companies and innovation centers to rapidly develop and field new technologies capable of countering emerging threats.
Earlier, Syrskyi also approved a comprehensive plan aimed at restoring, supporting, and further developing the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s sergeant corps as part of broader military modernization efforts.
