Ukraine requires a continuous supply of interceptor missiles from its international partners to defend against Russia’s intensifying missile attacks, the country’s Defense Ministry said following one of the largest ballistic assaults on Kyiv since the start of the full-scale invasion, UATV English reports.
In a statement, the ministry said Russia launched more than 40 missiles of various types and 125 attack drones overnight, with Kyiv as the primary target.
“The aggressor is acting with increasing fury, seeking to cause widespread destruction and panic. Protection against ballistic missiles remains our constant and highest priority. Our air defense performed exceptionally well, but our defenders need interceptor missiles. They are needed every day,” the ministry said.
The Defense Ministry stressed that uninterrupted deliveries and the fulfillment of commitments by Ukraine’s partners are essential, describing air defense assistance packages as “lives saved.”
The ministry thanked partner countries that continue supplying anti-ballistic capabilities and maintaining pressure on Russia through sanctions and other measures.
“This aggression has taught everyone that decisions must be made in time. These lessons must be learned. We are strengthening international cooperation and continuing to work to protect Ukraine and its people,” the statement said.
According to Ukrainian officials, Russia’s overnight attack targeted multiple districts of Kyiv with ballistic missiles. Ukraine’s Air Force reported intercepting 17 ballistic missiles, one Kh-59/69 guided missile and 108 attack drones during the assault.
The appeal comes as Ukraine continues to call for additional Patriot systems and interceptor missiles, warning that sustaining the country’s air defense network depends on a reliable flow of ammunition from international partners.
