A group of four members of the United States Congress issued a statement reaffirming support for Ukraine on the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
According to UATV English, the statement was published on the official website of Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur. The group also includes Representatives Brian Fitzpatrick, Mike Quigley, and Joe Wilson.
The lawmakers noted that Ukraine has been resisting aggressive Russian domination for 12 years, as well as attempts to destroy its unique identity and democracy.
“Four years ago, Russian leader Vladimir Putin believed the people of Ukraine would welcome his invaders as liberators and submit to his tyrannical and bloody rule. He was wrong,” the statement reads.
The members of Congress highlighted “the extraordinary courage, immense sacrifice, and inspiring resilience of the Ukrainian people, who have shown the world that they will never surrender their freedom.”
“As we celebrate 250 years of American independence, we see reflected in Ukraine the same timeless truth that created our own great Republic — that free people will rise up to cast off foreign rule and preserve their democratic system,” the statement says.
They emphasized that “Russia is not winning,” noting that its losses since 2022 have reached 1.2 million personnel, and that in December 2025 alone, Russian forces reportedly lost more than the Soviet Union did during a decade in Afghanistan — 35,000 troops.
“Russia’s staggering losses have not translated into meaningful battlefield gains, and dictator Putin hopes the Kremlin can obtain at the negotiating table what it cannot seize from Ukraine by force,” the lawmakers stated.
They added that “peace will not come through concessions to aggression. It will come through strength.”
“The United States must accelerate the delivery of assistance necessary to help Ukrainians weather this storm. A stronger Ukraine strengthens U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to end this war,” the statement concludes.
World leaders and international institutions have also issued statements marking the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
