US Ambassador to the UN Michael Waltz assured that the United States has everything needed to conduct a military operation against Iran, despite reports of shortages of certain types of weapons.
As UATV English reports, he said this in an interview with NBC News.
The US Ambassador to the UN stated that the US has “everything it needs” for military operations against Iran, refuting reports that stockpiles of certain types of weapons in the US have been depleted.
“I want to be absolutely clear: the American military, and I’ve verified this every way possible, has everything needed to carry out this campaign as effectively as necessary,” he said.
According to him, people spreading “this nonsense (rumors of shortages — ed.) deserve to be jailed,” the diplomat added.
Waltz initially claimed the stockpiles had been depleted under the Biden administration.
“Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth inherited a situation of depleted stockpiles not just because of Ukraine, but also because of the ongoing fight against the Houthis under the Biden administration and a depleted military under the previous administration,” he said.
The military under the Trump administration, he said, decided that “first, they’re transitioning to new types of munitions, cheaper munitions, new technologies, and are also rebuilding our great military with the help of new defense budgets.”
The White House and the Pentagon did not respond to a request for comment on this matter.
As previously reported, US President Donald Trump ordered the American military to hold off on new strikes against Iran to allow room for a diplomatic settlement of the conflict.
