The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deputies supported the establishment of the Myroslav Skoryk State Prize in the field of music.

306 MPs supported the presidential bill №5767 “On Amendments to Article 11 of the Law of Ukraine “On State Awards of Ukraine”
Myroslav Skoryk State Prize of Ukraine will be awarded for a significant contribution to the development of the musical art of Ukraine.
On the Day of Independence Day of Ukraine in 2020, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the establishment of the award, and also declared Myroslav Skoryk a Hero of Ukraine.
In addition, the composer had the title of People’s Artist of Ukraine, was a laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine, a holder of the Order of the Badge of Honor, an academician of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine and the Order of Merit I, II, III degrees.
He died on June 1, 2020 at the age of 82.
To remind, Volodymyr Zelenskyy named the first “National Legends of Ukraine”.
