Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has called on Ukraine’s international partners to intensify pressure on Russia following one of the largest ballistic missile attacks on Kyiv since the start of the full-scale invasion, UATV English reports.
In a post on X, Sybiha urged allies to accelerate military assistance, tighten sanctions against Moscow and strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities after Russia launched a large-scale overnight strike on the Ukrainian capital.
“The coward in Moscow, who is afraid to meet President Zelenskyy to end the war, continues to wage war against civilians. Russia launched the largest number of ballistic missiles since the beginning of the war—around four dozen—in a brutal terrorist attack on Ukraine’s capital, killing and injuring people,” Sybiha said.
The foreign minister called for what he described as “crushing pressure” on Moscow to end Russia’s campaign of attacks against Ukrainian civilians.
“There can be no pause in increasing sanctions and isolating Russia. The EU’s 21st sanctions package must be unblocked immediately,” he said.
Sybiha also urged partners to expedite the delivery of additional air defense interceptors, warning that delays in supplying critical defensive systems cost lives.
“There can be no pause in protecting lives. Agreements on additional interceptor missiles must be implemented without delay. Everyone who slows the delivery of these vital means of protection should understand that the price of delay is measured in human lives,” he said.
The minister further called for continued work on building a European anti-ballistic defense architecture, saying Ukraine expects the recently proposed “anti-ballistic coalition” to move forward quickly.
His remarks came after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia launched more than 40 missiles of various types, most of them targeting Kyiv, along with 120 attack drones during the overnight assault, describing it as one of the largest ballistic attacks on the Ukrainian capital since the war began.
