Special Operations Forces Create Combat Aviation Squadron

Ukrainian Special Operations Forces have established their own combat aviation squadron. It was created according to NATO standards and is based in the Vinnytsia region. Most aircraft of the 35th mixed squadron are transport helicopters and airplanes. Later MI-24 gunships will be added. The squadron will hold its first training flights on January 8th. The “Ukrainian Special Operations Forces” were created in 2015.

“In 2019 we made a decision to create this aerial component. First of all it is about mobility and stealth. The time from the decision to commence an operation until the engagement itself will now be minimal and fewer people will be informed of the operation,” Bohdan Andrushko, commander of the 35th mixed airforce squadron, said.
