Ukraine’s State Enterprise “International Broadcasting Multimedia Platform of Ukraine” (IBMPU) has launched the Hungarian-language YouTube channel UATV Magyarul. It has become the ninth platform in the ecosystem of UATV foreign broadcasting brands. At launch, the channel had already gained its first 1,000 subscribers and accumulated more than 340,000 views.
The new channel aims to introduce Hungarian audiences to various aspects of life in Ukraine, stories of the resilience of Ukrainian society, efforts to resist Russian aggression, and cultural and social initiatives. Currently, UATV Magyarul offers Hungarian-language adaptations of original foreign broadcasting content. Viewers can follow key Ukrainian news, statements and addresses by Ukraine’s top leadership and international leaders, and learn about Ukraine’s efforts to achieve peace and strengthen cooperation with partners, particularly in the defense sector.
The UATV Magyarul team also includes Tibor Tompa as a host. He produces original interviews with experts, academics, volunteers, and civil society representatives who actively support the development of friendly relations between Ukraine and Hungary. His guests have already included Hungarian volunteer Lajos Gyulai and Italian-Hungarian historian Stefano Bottoni, author of the book Orbán: A Power-Obsessed Leader. Another host of the channel is ethnic Hungarian Csaba Bakos, who was born in the village of Dertsen in Ukraine’s Zakarpattia region.
Communication with Hungarian-speaking audiences has gained particular importance amid the major reset in Ukrainian-Hungarian relations following the parliamentary election victory of the party led by Péter Magyar and his appointment as prime minister. Notably, the channel’s most-watched video is a livestream dedicated to the new stage in relations between Kyiv and Budapest.
“For us, it is extremely important that UATV in Hungarian has found its audience directly in Hungary. This demonstrates a demand for honest and verified information about Ukraine. At a time when Ukrainian-Hungarian relations are entering a new phase, direct communication with Hungarian society is becoming especially significant. We believe mutual understanding between our peoples begins with quality communication and access to verified facts. That is why we want Hungarian citizens to receive information about Ukraine without intermediaries or language barriers—in their native language,” said Vadym Lubchak, Head of Digital at IBMPU.
Since its launch, the UATV Magyarul YouTube channel has successfully reached its target audience: 96% of views come from outside Ukraine, including 69% from Hungary, 5.1% from Romania, and 4% from Slovakia. The top cities by viewership are Budapest, Debrecen, Bratislava, Szeged, and Miskolc. At launch, the channel had already gained more than 1,000 subscribers and accumulated over 340,000 views.
The channel’s most popular content includes statements and addresses by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, features on Ukrainian weapons, coverage of Ukrainian-Hungarian relations, and frontline updates.
Among the most-viewed videos are:
- A clip from an address by Kyrylo Budanov at the Kyiv StratCom Forum 2026, in which he stated that Russian elites are highly skeptical about the prospects of continuing the war against Ukraine;
- An interview by Tibor Tompa with Hungarian volunteer and activist Lajos Gyulai, who has been helping Ukrainians since the first days of the full-scale invasion;
- Footage of President Zelenskyy awarding members of Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces on the occasion of the SOF Day.
For these videos, up to 99% of viewers are located outside Ukraine, with more than 70% of views coming from Hungary.
It is worth recalling that in May 2026, IBMPU launched the French-language platform UATV Français.
