The latest phase of Russia’s offensive campaign in Ukraine has stalled as Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to strike Russian logistics, preventing Moscow from achieving its operational goals on schedule, military observer Denys Popovych said.

Speaking on FREEДОМ TV, Popovych said Russian forces had planned to seize the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration by the end of summer, envelop the Orikhiv defensive area and establish a unified front for an advance toward Zaporizhzhia.

“This is not just the summer offensive campaign of 2026. It is a phase of the offensive campaign that began in 2023 after Avdiivka. In fact, we are dealing with the same strategic offensive launched by the Russian Federation at the end of 2023,” Popovych said.

“The phase that is being referred to as the 2026 summer offensive has stalled. They are clearly failing to accomplish their objectives, and it is obvious why. One of the key reasons is that we are striking their logistics,” he added.

According to Popovych, disruptions to Russian supply lines have significantly undermined Moscow’s ability to sustain offensive operations.

Earlier, Yurii Fedorenko, commander of the Achilles 429th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade, said Ukrainian forces had shattered Russia’s offensive potential. He noted that Russian troops currently lack sufficient resources and manpower for a rapid advance deeper into Ukrainian territory.

Fedorenko added that Ukrainian forces have managed to slow Russian advances in several sectors, with tactical initiative gradually shifting to Kyiv. He identified drones as one of the key factors that have changed the dynamics of the war.
