Russia is spreading false claims to provoke hostility toward Ukrainians in Poland, according to the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council.

“Social media is circulating a fake story alleging that Polish soldiers were beaten by so-called ‘Banderites’ at the border. Videos carrying these claims have gained hundreds of thousands of views on TikTok and Facebook. The author of one recording even claimed that one of the Polish soldiers was hospitalized in serious condition. Poland’s Ministry of National Defense has officially denied this information, stressing that no such incident occurred,” the CCD stated on Telegram.

The Center emphasized that these fabricated stories are part of a broader Russian information operation aimed at discrediting Ukrainians, fueling anti-Ukrainian sentiment in Poland, and sowing division between the two nations.

As part of the same campaign, the CCD has previously debunked other hoaxes, including doctored images of a supposed questionnaire allegedly required for Ukrainians crossing the Polish border, and false claims about harsh treatment of Ukrainians during border checks.
