The Register of Damage for Ukraine has opened a new claims category A1.2 “Forced Displacement Outside Ukraine,” which concerns forced displacement beyond Ukraine’s borders as a result of Russia’s aggression. This was reported today, February 23, by the Register of Damage, UATV English informs.
This applies to Ukrainians who, since February 24, 2022, have been forced to leave their homes or places of residence and go abroad due to Russia’s full-scale aggression, or who are unable to return to Ukraine because of its consequences. From now on, such individuals may submit a claim for compensation for the very fact of forced displacement.
If a person received temporary protection or asylum in another country while staying abroad due to the war, this information must be indicated when submitting the claim. Applications are accepted through the Diia portal, which allows documents to be submitted remotely — regardless of the country of residence.
It should be noted that in March 2025, the Register opened category A1.1 — “Forced Internal Displacement.” The launch of A1.2 is a logical continuation of this work and confirms the principle that forced displacement is a serious hardship for individuals.
Earlier, it was reported that the Register of Damage for Ukraine had received 100,000 claims from individuals seeking compensation for damage, losses, or harm to health caused by Russian aggression.
