Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry said that this year’s Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk does not require the personal attendance of Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, emphasizing that the event is focused primarily on economic, reconstruction and business issues rather than diplomacy, UATV English reports.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi made the statement in response to media inquiries regarding Sybiha’s absence from the conference.

“This year’s Ukraine Recovery Conference events in Gdańsk do not require the mandatory personal presence of the foreign minister,” Tykhyi said.

He noted that the Polish side is likewise placing the emphasis on governmental, economic, security, infrastructure, humanitarian and business dimensions rather than on diplomatic issues.

“At the same time, the Foreign Ministry and Ukrainian diplomacy are certainly present and actively involved in this extremely important event,” he added.

According to Tykhyi, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry and its Department of Economic Diplomacy have spent months working alongside the government and other institutions to prepare the conference agenda and provide organizational support for meetings, agreements and negotiations scheduled within its framework.

“A great deal of work has been done, and we expect significant results,” he said.

Tykhyi stressed that Ukraine will be represented at the highest governmental level, with Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko leading the delegation.

“Our goal is to avoid unnecessary politicization of this international event and focus on pragmatism and concrete decisions in support of Ukraine and its people at a time when such support is especially needed, in the fifth year of Russia’s full-scale aggression,” he said.

The spokesperson also thanked Poland for its cooperation in organizing the event and expressed confidence that the conference would deliver tangible results for Ukraine while becoming a success story for Ukraine, Poland and dozens of international partners from both the public and private sectors.

The Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026) will take place in Gdańsk on June 25-26 and is expected to serve as one of the key international platforms for attracting investment, developing partnerships and advancing practical solutions for Ukraine’s reconstruction.

Around 1,000 companies are expected to participate, including Ukrainian, Polish and international businesses.
