Poland and Ukraine discussed joint opposition to Russian aggression and policy cooperation in Africa

The Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh held online consultations with the Undersecretary of State for Development Cooperation and Africa and the Middle East Policy Mr. Paweł Jabłoński and the top officials of the Africa and Middle East Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.

The sides highly appraised the extraordinary strategic nature of bilateral relations between Ukraine and Poland in the context of countering Russian aggression. It was also agreed to strengthen cooperation on the African continent, namely in the implementation of economic projects, development of business activities, counteraction to modern threats and challenges, as well as ensuring food security of African countries.

Maksym Subkh informed about the main elements of the Strategy for the development of Ukraine’s relations with African countries, as well as about the initiative of the President of Ukraine “Grain from Ukraine”. In this regard, he expressed gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Poland for the allocation of a donor aid.

The sides noted the importance of further development of cooperation with African countries and exchanged views on plans to expand the diplomatic presence of both countries in the mentioned region.

Maksym Subkh and Paweł Jabłoński agreed to start regular consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Ukraine and Poland regarding Africa to effectively use the existing political and diplomatic tools to strengthen coordination on the African track.
