On the streets of Almaty, after the introduction of the state of emergency, military armored vehicles appeared – combat vehicles BTR-80 and armored vehicles “Shot” (“Vystrel”).

Videos posted on social networks show that BTR-80 combat vehicles, as well as Russian-made “Shot” (“Vystrel”) armored vehicles, appeared near the Almaty administration.
The armored vehicles did not stop the protesters: under pressure from the crowd, the security forces were forced to deploy armored personnel carriers and military trucks. The video on social networks shows a crowd of protesters running after the BTR-80, throwing various objects into the equipment.
We will remind, in Kazakhstan, in the Mangistau region, on January 2, protests broke out against a 2-2.5-fold increase in the price of liquefied gas – up to 120 tenge (USD 0.28). Then thousands of people went to rallies, in particular, in the largest cities of the region, Zhanaozen and Aktau. The demonstrators announced an open-ended action.
