in Ukraine, 2,620 schools switched to an inclusive form of education within the framework of the project “inclusive education- level of consciousness of the nation.”
Maryna Poroshenko announced this at a press conference with regional and national media, Ukrinform reported.
“Over the past two years, we have seen great progress on this issue. At present, the number of pupils with special educational needs has increased in schools, if compared with 2016. Then, there were 4,807 students, and now, the number of students is 8,170. That is, we see more than double the number of students with special educational needs, who believed that they could study at the same school with their peers and receive a high-quality education. The number of schools that went to an inclusive form of education increased from 1,500 to 2,620 schools throughout Ukraine,” Poroshenko said.
She added that the inclusive education project is supported at the highest level of the state: by President Petro Poroshenko, the Ukrainian government and parliament.
“This gives us confidence that our children with certain special needs will have all the necessary conditions for obtaining a high-quality education in regular secondary schools and pre-school establishments,” Poroshenko added
