President of France Emmanuel Macron is determined to use the Olympic Games as an opportunity to implement a ceasefire in the major conflicts worldwide.

Macron told this BFMTV.

Elaborating on the issue, Macron mentioned Russia-Ukraine war, Israel-Hamas war and war in Sudan.

“The leader of China will be coming to Paris in a few weeks. I have asked him for help. In 2022, we also faced a similar task ahead of the Winter Olympic Games hosted by China… So this could also become a diplomatic moment for peace,” Macron shared his plan with RMC-BFMTV.

However, Macron added he would like to cooperate with as many partners as possible on this matter.

“We want to work towards an ‘Olympic truce’ and I think this is an opportunity where I will try to engage many of our partners,” Macron pointed out.

French President is well aware of a terrorist threat and promised to maintain security during the event. According to him, the police are already mobilized “at exceptional level”.

40 Russian and Belarusian athletes were allowed to perform in Paris during the 2024 Olympics under a neutral flag, but the aggressor states will not be able to compete in any team sports.
