France is preparing to propose a fighter jet exchange deal with Greece that could see all Greek Mirage 2000 aircraft transferred to Ukraine, according to media reports, UATV English reports.

As reported by Le Parisien, citing Greek sources, Emmanuel Macron is expected to present the initiative during his visit to Greece on April 24–25.

Under the proposal, Greece would transfer its fleet of 43 Mirage 2000 fighter jets, including 24 Mirage 2000-5 and 19 older Mirage 2000 EGM/BGM aircraft, along with spare parts. Some of the older jets are reportedly no longer operational.

In return, France would offer Greece a similar number of Dassault Rafale fighter jets at discounted terms, with final conditions to be negotiated between the sides.

The arrangement could allow the Greek Air Force to fully equip two squadrons with modern Rafale aircraft, while enabling Ukraine to strengthen its air capabilities with additional Mirage jets.

Greece had previously announced plans to phase out and sell older aircraft, including Mirage 2000 variants, as part of a broader military modernization program confirmed by Defense Minister Nikos Dendias.

France already delivered the first Mirage 2000 aircraft to Ukraine in early 2025, with Ukrainian pilots undergoing several months of training in France to operate them effectively.

Earlier, Macron also indicated that third countries operating Mirage jets could contribute additional aircraft to Ukraine.
