Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said the bloc has no interest in negotiating energy deals with Russia, even behind closed doors.

In an interview with Reuters, Kallas stressed that she has not seen any willingness among EU member states to pursue such agreements, UATV English reports.

“I have been behind those closed doors, and I do not see such a desire. And when we talk to Russia, of course, the most important thing is first to agree on what we want to talk about,” she said.

According to Kallas, returning to “business as usual” with Russia would only increase the likelihood of future wars.

“We have seen this before. That is why we must remain very vigilant and not give Russia what it wants, because its appetite will only grow,” she added.

Earlier, Paola Pinho, spokesperson for the European Commission, noted that since the escalation in the Middle East and disruptions in oil supplies through the Strait of Hormuz, Russia has been earning an additional $150 million per day from oil exports.
