Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, arrived in Kyiv today, February 24. Early in the morning, she was personally welcomed at the railway station by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, UATV English reports, citing a post by the head of the Foreign Ministry on X.
Von der Leyen emphasized that her visit demonstrates that Europe steadfastly supports — and will continue to support — Ukraine both financially and militarily and will not relent until peace is restored — peace on Ukraine’s terms.
Also arriving in Kyiv on the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion were:
- António Costa, President of the European Council
- The Prime Ministers of Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Sweden, Croatia, Iceland, and Norway
- The President of Finland
- The Minister of Defense of Lithuania
In the capital, EU leaders will take part in an official commemorative ceremony, visit an energy infrastructure facility damaged by Russian missile strikes, and hold a trilateral meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission will also participate in a meeting of the “coalition of the willing,” organized by Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
In addition, the “Ukraine — Nordic and Baltic Countries” summit will take place in Kyiv.
