The “Build with Ukraine” initiative allows Ukraine to produce critical weapons while giving Western partners access to technology tested in real combat, helping them better prepare for future threats.
That’s according to Deputy Minister of Strategic Industries David Aloyan, speaking in an interview with Ukrinform.
“Governments and companies alike understand that cooperation with Ukrainian defense firms opens the door to future collaboration back home,” Aloyan said. He cited Denmark as an example of such ongoing cooperation.
The program, launched by President Zelensky, is attracting strong international interest. Even though weapons made under the program are currently used exclusively by Ukraine, foreign partners still benefit, Aloyan noted — they gain insight into which technologies are battlefield-relevant today.
“This model of cooperation allows partners to eventually receive cutting-edge weapons that have proven effective in real war. It helps them be better prepared for future aggression,” Aloyan explained.
He added that now is a critical moment for partners to act, with momentum from both the Build with Ukraine initiative and the EU’s SAFE mechanism. Ukraine is urging partners to join production efforts and invest in weapons developed at a high human cost by Ukrainians.
As reported, the Build with Ukraine program was officially launched in late June. It enables defense manufacturers to scale up weapons production beyond Ukraine’s borders.
