The construction of fortifications continues in Ukraine. Trenches, trenches, concrete barriers – all to ensure that the Russian occupiers could not pass further, reports FREEDOM.

On the right bank of the Dnipro in the Kherson region they continue to build a second line of defense. Builders are erecting special barriers and digging anti-tank ditches.

“We help our military – defenders, defenders, to make it easier for them. And we protect our population – residents of the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions. We want our families, in our city, in our villages, communities to be calmer,” says installer Oleg Terentyev.

Step by step, workers are installing concrete pyramids among the fields. These are the so-called “dragon teeth”. Such traps can create a lot of problems for the invaders.

“If heavy equipment approaches the “tooth,” it begins to turn over and the edge lifts its front end, and then the equipment freezes and cannot move further,” explains the installer.

In each direction, north, east and south, there must be at least three lines of defense to prevent the Russian army from advancing forward. Preparation of fortifications also continues in Zaporozhzhia. The construction of the defensive line was checked by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov. It is precisely these fortifications that will help the Ukrainian army repel possible enemy attacks.

Anti-tank ditches, “dragon teeth”, trenches, concrete bunkers – all this is being built in the Avdiivka direction. Engineer troops are actively strengthening defensive positions.

“The depth of the trench must be 2 m so that the serviceman can move mobile, without bending down, and walk to his full height. Up to half a meter of parapet is poured on top. Here it is reinforced with such powerful structures – geotextiles, nets, boards, beams,” engineer officer Leonid shows the structure.

The military is setting up entire underground towns and concrete “life capsules” that can protect soldiers from enemy shelling.

“In case of any artillery attack, they create security for personnel to enter. Plus, they are equipped with an armored door, which closes if necessary, and the personnel are safe,” said the Ukrainian serviceman.

The safety of Ukrainian defenders must be at the highest level; this is the primary task of the state. Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov assured that any challenges will be overcome.

“I spent every day in the brigades fighting in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. We honestly discuss front-line challenges with unit commanders. We help you find the right solutions. We don’t close our eyes to problems. We clearly understand the situation at the front and are ready to make decisions,” he said.

According to military experts, new three-lane defensive lines need to be built as quickly as possible. According to forecasts from the Institute for the Study of War, the Russian army will launch a new offensive in the summer, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine must be prepared for this.
