Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine’s Armed Forces General Oleksandr Syrskyi has appealed to Coalition of the Willing member states to supply Ukraine with additional air defense equipment — particularly systems capable of intercepting ballistic missiles — along with further weaponry aimed at degrading Russia’s military and economic capacity.
Syrskyi shared this in a Facebook post, according to UATV English, following his participation via video link in a meeting of Chiefs of Defense from Coalition of the Willing countries.
He stated that Russian forces are disregarding calls for peace, instead escalating their large-scale combined strikes on Ukraine, with civilians, the economy, and critical infrastructure bearing the brunt. In light of this, he told his fellow coalition military leaders that Ukraine needs more air defense resources — especially anti-ballistic systems — as well as additional offensive capabilities to weaken the aggressor state’s military and economic power.
Syrskyi also emphasized the need for continued coordinated action against Russia’s shadow fleet, which he described as one of Moscow’s primary means of dodging sanctions and funding its war effort.
Beyond air defense, the discussion with coalition military chiefs covered the training of Ukrainian troops and units alongside international partners, including the deployment of instructors from the coalition’s multinational forces to Ukraine.
Syrskyi expressed gratitude to Coalition of the Willing states for their military support and the strong working relationship between their respective armed forces, adding: “We are moving forward shoulder to shoulder to ensure peace and stability for both Ukraine and the entire European continent.”
As previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said eight partner nations had agreed to support Ukraine in developing an anti-ballistic air defense system.
