President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Canada for announcing a new $900 million military assistance package, saying the priority remains strengthening Ukraine’s air defense against Russia’s continued missile and drone attacks, UATV English reports.

“I am deeply grateful to Canada for this new support package — a very strong package worth $900 million. Our top priority is strengthening air defense. Protecting lives comes first, and Russia’s ballistic missiles, other missiles and drones are terror that must be countered together with our partners,” Zelenskyy said.

The president said he also discussed preparations for a bilateral Drone Deal with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

According to Zelenskyy, the initiative goes beyond drones and focuses on building a new security architecture based on combat-proven technologies and defense capabilities developed during Russia’s full-scale invasion.

The two leaders also discussed the current diplomatic situation and possible ways to bring peace closer by creating stronger incentives for Russia to engage in negotiations.

In addition, Zelenskyy said Canada invited Ukraine to become a founding member of a new defense, security and resilience bank, which will focus on attracting investment and supporting the development of defense-industrial capabilities and battlefield-tested technologies.
