Terrorist act at Zaporizhzhia NPP could lead to a full-scale war between Russia and NATO, – expert on the draft resolution of Blumenthal and Graham

Russia is again using blackmail to use nuclear weapons, and is also preparing a terrorist attack at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (NPP). If the Russian Federation uses nuclear weapons in Ukraine, this will be considered an attack on NATO. Such a draft resolution was registered in the US Senate. This was told on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel by an expert on international security of the Democratic Initiatives Foundation. Ilka Kucheriva Taras Zhovtenko.

“Our Western partners are now absolutely seriously considering any options for the Russian regime. Because, in principle, everyone has already understood, especially after the terrorist attack on the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station (HPP), that in fact the Kremlin will stop at practically nothing in order to achieve the goals that were set for the Russian military in Ukraine. It is also clear that the military tools that are in the hands of the Russian military are, in principle, not enough to fulfill these tasks,” he said.

The Russian leadership is afraid of a counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and therefore acts like terrorists.

“The blowing up of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station confirms this logic, which is based on the fact that, in principle, the Russian command is not so sure that their numerical advantage can hold back the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a long time. Therefore, the Russian military-political leadership is acting in the logic of terrorists. Now we see that the Russian leadership is returning to this nuclear blackmail. Now Putin needs Crimea so that tactical nuclear weapons reach the US European NATO allies from there. And Belarus, in fact, also fits into this logic. Therefore, we see that the Russian leadership is not sure that it will be able to stop the Armed Forces by purely military conventional means. And therefore, the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station is being blown up, nuclear blackmail, blackmail by a nuclear accident at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, ”explained the expert.

The policy of nuclear blackmail was stopped by Russia due to clear signals from the West explaining the consequences for the Russian Federation.

“The option to use nuclear weapons was put on pause somewhere in the middle of last year, because in fact, at that time the West sent quite clear signals to the Russian regime. That is, three basic scenarios were considered there. These are the use of nuclear weapons on the territory of Ukraine, the use of nuclear weapons against a NATO member state and the use of nuclear weapons on neutral territory. Then it was considered as an option the island of the Snake. And for each of these scenarios, the Russian leadership was brought, as it were, all the consequences, both global at the national level, and personal consequences even for the leadership of the Russian Federation, including for Vladimir Putin, ”Zhovtenko said.

The draft resolution submitted to the US Senate by Republican Lindsey Graham and Democrat Richard Blumenthal deals not only with the use of nuclear strategic or tactical weapons but also with a terrorist attack or sabotage at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

“The draft resolution refers not only to the use of nuclear weapons in principle on the territory of Ukraine by the Russians but also refers to a sabotage or terrorist act at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. And the senators, the authors of this resolution, they say that the Russian leadership will bear the most severe responsibility for both of these incidents in the sense that this will mean the beginning of a full-scale war with NATO, ”the expert stated.
