Another 10,000 Ukrainian military personnel will be trained to operate drones. Thanks to the Drone Army project, they will be able to train not only on copters, but also on FPV drones and aircraft-type UAVs. In the process of preparation, operators study the technical parameters of the UAV, cartography, flight tactics in electronic warfare conditions, camouflage and learn how to maintain equipment. And the practical part is as close as possible to the conditions of a real battle, reports FREEDOM.
Servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the call signs “Demon” and “Raccoon” served in hot spots, including in Bakhmut. And before that, they were trained at the “Army of Drones” Academy.
“Very cool program, I really liked it. We came with “Enot” for the second time to study. Once was not enough for us. We can go for the third time, ”the military man says.
Ten thousand Ukrainian pilots have already been trained under the Army of Drones project. The second stage will start soon. They plan to train another ten thousand specialists. They will be prepared in 26 schools throughout Ukraine.
“We pay this grant to schools for every soldier. Now we are expanding this program and adding new categories: now not only reconnaissance drones, but these will be FPV drones and these are bomber aircraft, as well as reconnaissance ones, ”said the Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technologies — Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov.
Education is free. Upon completion, the military will receive a certificate of completion of the course, which lasts an average of a week.
“From the first day, as we met here in the field, so we meet with them, we go through a little theory. And then there is the familiarization with the drone, landing, camouflage of movement, trust in each other, ”says a representative of the SkySpies school with the call sign “Monk”.
The effective use of drones would be impossible without the StarLink satellite communications system, with the help of which the Ukrainian military corrects artillery strikes and controls drones.
“The game changer of this war. It is very important that everyone is in touch all the time. We have already brought 42,000 StarLinks to Ukraine. By the way, it is important that both StarLink and the funding of these schools do not come from the budget, that is, they are all private donors who help us build the resilience of our army, ”added Fedorov.
Drones play a key role in the battle of technology. Drones deliver precise strikes against enemy positions and heavy weapons. And that means they save the lives of the Ukrainian military.
In the near future, the Army of Drones Academy plans to train 7,600 copter operators, 2,000 FPV drone pilots and 400 aircraft-type UAV operators. Over the past 11 months, 3864 drone systems have been purchased as part of the project. And in May, 8 new attack companies of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were equipped with drones.
