Today, July 15, Ukraine marks Statehood Day. This holiday commemorates the country’s history spanning more than a thousand years. It was established in 2021, UATV English reports.
The date of July 15 was not chosen by chance — it is the day of the Baptism of Kyivan Rus-Ukraine and a day of remembrance for Prince Volodymyr the Great. A state cannot exist without historical roots. Today’s commemorative day symbolizes the continuity of Ukrainian history, which is honored and respected. Today, Ukrainian Statehood Day is not just a memory of the past, but also a reminder that the struggle for freedom and independence continues.
This marks the fifth year of the full-scale war. Ukrainian servicemembers defend the country’s sovereignty every day, while millions of citizens strengthen the state on the home front through their work, volunteering, and unity.
Earlier, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys said that after the opening of the sixth cluster for Ukraine on its path to EU accession, negotiations on the remaining clusters will be postponed until autumn. At the same time, the head of the foreign ministry is convinced there is no reason for delay.
